Testimonials

Children at Brookside School in Street had an energetic treat recently when they were visited by skipping phenomenon "Skippy John", whose mission was to help every child in the school become a better skipper!

Skippy John gave the children tips on how to improve their technique, such as how to hold the rope properly and develop a good rhythm. Once the basics were safely tucked under their belts, the children progressed on to some impressive skipping including side splits, front and back splits and even switching from forwards to backwards skipping without stopping the rope.

The sessions began with solo work and progressed to skipping in pairs, which required some good communication skills and team work. The youngsters all thoroughly enjoyed the workshops, and are still enthusiastically practising their new skills on the playground whenever the weather permits.

Hi John,

I would like to thank you personally for spending half hour with my daughters class in Ysgol bro Sannan last Thursday introducing them to skipping.

Through your coaching delivery and technique, she is confident and fully able to skip. The weekend before she had not co-ordination or way of skipping and was feeling quite deflated through what she thought was failure. As an Aerobic Instructor and an employee of Sport Caerphilly (Sports Development Team for Caerphilly CB Council) I was overwhelmed and pleased with what she got from the day and the time you spent with her and her class. She will carry this skill with her throughout her life and still can't believe as a 5 year old what she managed to achieve in half hour.I hope you don't mind, but I wish to advise Sport Wales about my daughter and what she and I'm sure many others achieved through your delivery day at her school and hope that it gets recognition.Once again, thank you and I hope you inspire many other children to skip and do all sorts with the rope. My daughter is now constantly skipping!!!

Kind Regards

Louise

Over the past 7 years the children at St Sampson's Infants School & St Sampson's CofE Junior School have both enjoyed and gained valuable experience from the skipping workshops which Mr. John Burn (or 'Skippy John' as he is better known) has delivered. We have always found John to be a great role model and his enthusiasm inspires the children to challenge themselves. Lunchtimes in particular have never been so bouncy! John has adapted his delivery to suit all age groups and even trains our Sports Leaders to deliver workshops of their own! We would recommend Skipping 4 Life to any school who need an injection of energy and professionalism with a personal touch.

Hi John,

Thank you so much for coming along on Friday. Please find attached a “Thank You letter” (signed copy in the post) and some photographs of you in action!

We will have no hesitation in recommending you to our neighbouring schools and please feel free to use any of my comments in your testimonials. Thank you also for the Skippy John Challenges – they will be very useful.

You were very inspiring – and the pupils loved your sessions (I think some of them would have also liked a separate session just to ask you questions about Total Wipeout!) ... Sorry we were a bit pressed for time due to the long assembly first thing – you managed the workshops brilliantly though and everyone felt they got the most from their particular session!

Thank you again for making skipping so much fun!

Best wishes

Caroline
